CipherDrive™ is Ackaia's privacy-first encrypted cloud drive for private files, backups, documents, and other sensitive material. It is designed around client-side encryption and a zero-knowledge storage boundary, so supported file content is encrypted before it is stored by Ackaia.
For supported storage workflows, encryption and decryption happen in your browser or client environment.
You select a file to store.
Where applicable, CipherDrive may perform pre-encryption safety checks.
Your client generates cryptographic key material and encrypts the file before upload.
Ackaia receives and stores encrypted file data, encrypted key material, and the operational metadata needed to run the service.
When you access the file again, an authorized client downloads the encrypted data and decrypts it locally using the required key material.
Under normal operation, after client-side encryption has completed, Ackaia does not ordinarily possess the plaintext file contents or the cryptographic keys required to decrypt stored file contents.
Depending on your plan, region, client, and the features currently available to your account, CipherDrive may provide:
encrypted file storage;
file and folder organization;
encrypted downloads;
previews for supported file types;
public or private sharing;
the ability to save an independent copy of shared content to your own storage;
storage and transfer allowances tied to your plan.
In CipherDrive, zero-knowledge describes the storage boundary: after supported content has been encrypted client-side, Ackaia does not normally have the keys needed to read the stored plaintext content.
It does not mean that Ackaia processes no data at all. CipherDrive still needs limited operational information to authenticate your account, organize encrypted objects, enforce storage and transfer limits, operate sharing, prevent abuse, troubleshoot errors, and protect the service.
This can include information such as account identifiers, subscription status, encrypted object sizes, timestamps, folder relationships, sharing status, transfer usage, IP addresses, session information, security events, and safety signals.
Important: Zero-knowledge storage cannot protect a file from someone who already controls your unlocked device, browser session, local key material, or a valid share link. Your local device is an important part of the security boundary.
CipherDrive may use a Risk Assessment Engine before client-side encryption for severe-abuse prevention, malware detection, child-safety protections, and other safety purposes. These checks can create technical signals such as hashes or file fingerprints before the encrypted object is stored.
This safety layer does not give Ackaia a general server-side key that can later decrypt your stored files.
CipherDrive is intended for people and organizations that want to reduce how much they must trust a cloud-storage provider with the plaintext contents of their files. It can be useful for personal documents, backups, professional files, and other material where confidentiality matters.
CipherDrive does not automatically satisfy every regulatory, legal, archival, medical, financial, classified-information, or professional requirement. If your use case is regulated or mission-critical, you should evaluate your own obligations before relying on any cloud service.
Your Ackaia ID authenticates you to the Ackaia ecosystem, but authentication is separate from your file-encryption keys.
Losing required vault secrets or cryptographic recovery material may permanently prevent access to encrypted files.
Ackaia still processes limited metadata needed to operate and secure CipherDrive.
Public sharing can grant access to anyone who receives the complete link and required key material.
You should maintain independent backups of important files.
