CipherDriveâ„¢ can let you share encrypted files or folders without turning ordinary stored content into plaintext on Ackaia's servers.
Depending on the current client, account, plan, and feature availability, CipherDrive may provide public links, controlled sharing, shared objects, or other platform-mediated sharing methods.
Open the file or folder you want to share and use the current sharing action offered by CipherDrive. Review the options shown before creating or enabling access.
The exact interface can change over time, but a sharing flow can involve:
the encrypted source object;
an object identifier;
server-side link or access permissions;
encrypted file-key material;
client-side decryption key material;
a public or controlled download endpoint;
link status and transfer limits.
CipherDrive can separate the part Ackaia needs to authorize and serve the encrypted object from the key material the recipient's browser needs to decrypt it.
For supported encrypted-sharing workflows, the recipient's client can:
open the shared link;
request the encrypted object from CipherDrive;
obtain the required client-side key material from the sharing context;
unwrap or recover the file key locally;
download the encrypted data;
decrypt the content in the recipient's browser or client.
Ackaia can coordinate sharing without ordinarily needing to decrypt the stored file on its servers.
Once someone can decrypt a shared file, that person may be able to:
download it;
save it locally;
copy it;
screenshot or screen-record it;
forward the link;
re-upload the content elsewhere;
save an independent copy where supported.
CipherDrive's encryption protects the file from unauthorized infrastructure access. It does not prevent an authorized recipient from using content after decryption.
If a public link includes or provides access to the cryptographic material required for decryption, anyone who obtains the complete working link may be able to access the shared content.
Only send sensitive links through channels you trust, and revoke links that are no longer needed.
Even when the file contents remain encrypted, CipherDrive may process operational sharing metadata such as:
object identifier;
link status;
sharing timestamps;
download or access timestamps;
transfer usage;
IP and session information;
risk or moderation signals;
records showing that a link was restricted or disabled.
Ackaia may restrict or disable sharing when required by product policy, security controls, abuse-prevention systems, copyright procedures, valid legal process, or other applicable rules.
Disabling a link does not require Ackaia to decrypt the underlying stored file.
Best practice: share only what the recipient actually needs, treat complete links as sensitive, and revoke access when the sharing purpose has ended.
