Your CipherDrive™ account combines access through Ackaia ID with the product-specific storage, subscription, security, and encrypted-vault information needed to use CipherDrive.
It helps to think of your account as several connected layers rather than a single password and a folder of files.
Ackaia ID is the shared identity and authentication layer used by participating Ackaia services. It identifies your account, manages sign-in, and can provide CipherDrive with the account information needed to decide whether you are allowed to access the product.
Depending on your account and configuration, this information can include:
your account identifier;
name or display name;
email address;
account status;
subscription or plan information;
product entitlements and feature eligibility;
relevant security settings.
Ackaia limits the exchange between shared account services and CipherDrive to information reasonably necessary for authentication, access, entitlements, plan limits, security, and product operation.
CipherDrive is the product that manages your encrypted storage experience. It handles features such as:
files and folders;
encrypted uploads and downloads;
supported previews;
public and private sharing;
storage and transfer accounting;
product-specific security controls;
storage metadata and object relationships.
Supported file contents are encrypted client-side before ordinary encrypted storage. Ackaia stores encrypted file blobs, encrypted key material, and operational metadata needed to run the service.
Your ability to sign in to Ackaia ID is separate from your ability to decrypt CipherDrive files.
Depending on the feature and client, your encrypted vault may rely on cryptographic material associated with a vault passphrase, PIN, recovery credential, local browser key, device key, or another local unlock mechanism.
Because CipherDrive is designed around zero-knowledge storage, Ackaia may not possess the keys required to decrypt stored file contents.
Important: Being signed in to your account does not guarantee that a device can decrypt your vault. If required cryptographic material has been lost, account authentication alone may not restore access to encrypted files.
To operate your account, CipherDrive may process information such as:
account and subscription identifiers;
plan and billing status;
storage and transfer usage;
security and authentication events;
session, device, browser, and IP information;
storage-object identifiers and operational metadata;
sharing status and transfer records;
support, trust, safety, and enforcement records where applicable.
Zero-knowledge storage does not mean zero metadata. CipherDrive still needs limited operational information to provide, secure, account for, and support the service.
When using a CipherDrive account, you should:
keep your Ackaia ID contact and recovery information current;
protect your sign-in credentials, sessions, and devices;
protect vault passphrases, PINs, recovery information, and local cryptographic material;
notify Ackaia promptly if you suspect unauthorized access or compromise;
maintain independent copies of critical files where appropriate;
use CipherDrive in accordance with the Terms of Service and Acceptable Use policies.
An Ackaia ID can continue to exist even if a paid CipherDrive subscription is cancelled. Likewise, changing or losing a subscription entitlement may affect storage, transfer, sharing, or other product features without necessarily deleting the underlying Ackaia ID immediately.
Before cancelling, downgrading, or closing access, export or back up any files you need to keep while you still have the keys and client access required to decrypt them.
