CipherDrive™ uses several different operational limits. A transfer limit and a rate limit are not the same thing, and neither is the same as a storage limit.
A transfer or bandwidth limit measures the amount of data moved through CipherDrive.
Depending on the current plan and feature, transfer can include:
downloads;
previews;
Public Link traffic;
uploads or other network operations where applicable.
You can have storage space available and still exceed a transfer allowance.
A rate limit controls how quickly or how often requests can be made.
It can protect:
service reliability;
authentication systems;
Public Links;
APIs;
upload/download endpoints;
security and abuse-prevention systems.
A rate-limit error is often temporary and may resolve after request volume drops or the product's indicated retry period passes.
A storage limit controls how much encrypted data your account can keep in CipherDrive.
Exceeding storage typically affects operations that would increase stored usage rather than every request universally.
An individual file can exceed a maximum permitted size or operation-specific limit even when the account has storage available.
Ackaia may also apply proportionate restrictions when usage creates abnormal load, security risk, abuse risk, or material impact on other users.
This may happen independently of a simple numeric quota.
Read the exact error message.
Check whether it says storage, transfer, rate, file size, or account restriction.
Review current plan and usage information.
If it is a rate limit, reduce request frequency and retry later according to the interface.
If it is storage, reduce usage or change plans where appropriate.
If it is transfer, wait for the applicable reset or obtain more capacity where available.
Contact support if the displayed usage appears incorrect.
Ackaia's General Terms prohibit using multiple accounts, request manipulation, abusive automation, or similar techniques to circumvent service limits.
Repeated evasion attempts can lead to additional restrictions.
Quota enforcement uses operational metadata such as encrypted object sizes, transferred bytes, request counters, account identifiers, and plan status.
Ackaia does not need to decrypt file contents to measure storage or bandwidth.
Provide:
the exact error code;
current displayed usage;
your plan name;
the approximate time of the error;
whether the problem affects uploads, downloads, previews, or Public Links.
The exact error category matters. “I hit a limit” is less useful than “I hit a transfer limit while opening a Public Link.”
